Leather Bag Fashion

Fashion is the most one wonderful thing not for a women but for a men too

Use of exotic skin refreshes leather handbag selections

  • Makers adopt exotic leather: To improve profitability, some companies employ exotic skin, including those from ostriches and crocodiles. Domestically sourced materials often come from Guangdong and Zhejiang provinces, while imported inputs are from Japan and Italy.
  • Colorful & ornate designs: Suppliers are using bright shades such as orange, pink, yellow, green, red and blue. For enhanced aesthetics, a number of bags are decorated with plaits, fringes, rhinestones and embroidery.
  • Price projection: Rising material costs are prompting some companies to increase quotes by up to 10 percent in the next half-year.
  • Sales forecast: Manufacturers anticipate declining overseas revenue in the next 12 months because of the continuing financial woes in the EU, where most businesses export their products. To generate more margins, some companies are exploring alternative destinations such as the Middle East, South America, Australia, Southeast Asia and Africa.

Makers are adding value to releases by incorporating ostrich and crocodile textures.

The unique features of avian and reptilian leather are appearing on a growing number of China-made fashion bags. To create an upscale look, many suppliers are using synthetic materials embossed with ostrich follicles, and crocodile, lizard and python scales. Models come in simple shapes that allow the motif to stand out.

Some manufacturers are also utilizing the actual exotic skin to improve profitability. Although this requires significant investment due to high costs, the companies are able to set prices that generate much wider margins.

The adoption of ostrich hide, in particular, is expected to increase because of its advantageous properties. The material resists abrasion well and is said to contain a kind of natural oil that prevents stiffening and cracking. One raw piece is estimated at $315 to $550, 10 times more expensive than the same size of cowhide. Birds that are 12 to 14 months old yield 1 to 1.4sqm. The skin on the leg can be employed as well. Although it does not feature the distinctive dots, the part has a laddered pattern.

The move is spurred by rising rates for commonly used types

Style revisions to stabilize leather bag prices

Smaller bags and recycling offcuts help reduce outlay amid escalating expenses.

India suppliers of leather bags are adjusting designs to cope with rising material costs.

Rates for genuine and synthetic hides increased at least 20 percent in the past six months. The value for fabric lining and metal embellishments is also climbing.

Under efforts to maintain price competitiveness, makers are coming up with styles that are economical to produce.

The simplest way is to minimize material utilization. Instead of oversized hobos and totes, the latest releases are small and medium clutches and satchels. These measure 8 to 15in long, 8 to 18in high and 2 to 4in wide. Pochettes generate extra savings by not having handles and straps.

In terms of structure, fewer sections are incorporated. Bags have one main compartment and two exterior or interior pockets.

Businesses are also cutting down on the use of decorations. Bold and heavy buckles and studs have been replaced with dainty hardware and tassels. Laser-cut patterns provide visual appeal without consuming additional inputs.

Moreover, PU and PVC leather are being adopted. Between the two variants, the former is preferred because it does not require harmful plasticizers. Both are less expensive than locally sourced cowhide

Learn to Recycle Your Fashion

When one trend sprouts, another dies, thus, what you bought three months ago may already be unfashionable. That’s how quickly your fashion assets become expenses. It helps to read a couple of false eyelashes reviews just to get up to speed with fashion.

One thing that is a common problem of people, particularly women, is waking up and having trouble choosing what to wear. They would say that they have nothing to put on when in fact, their closet overflows with different types of clothing and accessories. But worry no more because with the use of your creativity, your old clothes may turn into a new one.

Have you ever thought about wearing something out of recycled materials? It might seem a bit silly and you may think it is cheap, but in reality, this can be beneficial both to you and your environment. Here are some things that you can make out of your old fashion wears.

The One Of A Kind Features Of The Authentic BJJ Kimono

The simple cut and design of the kimono has now turned it into something that can be worn as casual wear, apart from its original purpose of being an attire used in fighting sports or jiu-jitsu. Recent years and fashion trends have seen many variations done on the classic kimono, but underneath all those tweaks and variations, it is still essentially a kimono. Since different types of men also have different tastes when it comes to clothing, we see more and more men who are willing to buy a BJJ kimono. Shopping for a kimono garment would be easier if you familiarize yourself with the unique cuts and designs of these attires. You would then be able to tell them apart.
Fashion trends have constantly introduced various elements which, when incorporated into apparels, will set them apart from all the rest. You only need to take a look at the number of fashion elements used on the kimono. First, there is the fabric used for the garment. The fabric can be categorized into weaves that make the fabric. When you shop for a BJJ kimono, you will come across terms like a single weave kimono, a pearl weave, or a

Leather Finishing And The Skinny On Skins

Ever gazed longingly through the shop window at that new leather handbag? You know its leather but what is it made of? Is it good quality leather? Is it cow leather or something more exotic? Oh look at that croc wallet next to it! Is it real? How do they make that? Let’s take a look at some of the common leather types and finishes.

Leather is a byproduct of other industries, for example the meat industry, where the skins are a secondary in value to the meat. This is an important distinction between the fur industry where the fur is the primary material sought, with the meat of lesser value as a byproduct.

Leather is animal skins or hides that have undergone one or more tanning processes. Applying this definition, rawhide is not technically leather although it is usually lumped in with the other forms. Rawhide is made by scraping the skin, soaking it in lime then stretching it while it dries. Rawhide is brittle and stiff and is used for drum heads where it does need to flex significantly, its also great for dog chews.

In general, leather is sold in four forms; full grain leather, top grain leather, corrected grain

It’s Back the Pack, That Is, as a Trend This Fall

Backpacks seem to grow on students, but I didn’t buy my first one until I was 28.

I made up for the delay by splurging on the then-überhip black nylon version from Prada, which became a cult accessory of sorts  and put the company on the global fashion map.

Now the backpack as fashion accessory is back in a big way. And why shouldn’t it be? As fashion and beauty editor Jacqui Stafford put it, “They are ideal to carry everything you need, but conveniently hands-free. The newest styles come in butter-soft leathers and a variety of colors.”

Stafford recommends a midsize, slouchy style that works for every occasion, from work to weekend. And, she says, “Look for (bag) styles with top-handle straps that can be converted to backpacks.”

She’s right that there’s no shortage of options: Every major (and minor) fashion house has come out with their own version. And along with nude nails (another trend this fall), you’ll see backpacks in all shapes and sizes featured in top fall fashion magazines. Unbelievably, scientists are even putting the ever-useful backpack on honey bees. Sweet.

Even though I still have my vintage Prada, newer versions are vastly improved. Most do double (and sometimes triple) duty, converting from functional backpack to chic

Green’ Leather Is In This Season

Fashionista’s after the latest in leather bags could soon have a ‘greener’ selection to choose from. Scientists in India have modified the tanning process making it far more eco-friendly. Tanning is a complex chemical process used to transform perishable raw hides and skins into durable leather. Unfortunately, as a result, high levels of pollution are released into the water.

Raghava Rao and his team at the Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) in Adyar have modified the process to make it into an eco-friendly, cost-efficient method.

The researchers found that simply reversing the order of the tanning and post-tanning steps can drastically improve the process. By also promoting non-chemical-based pre-tanning methods, they have reduced the amount chemicals released by 82% and made an energy saving of nearly 40%.

According to Rao, “The significance is tremendous in the context of environmental challenges being faced by the leather industry”. Most importantly, no loss of the leather quality was observed when compared with conventional tanning methods.

This method is detailed in the Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology, and also reported in Chemistry & Industry.

Mathematical model gives fashion advice

Researchers at the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics (IRI), a joint research centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), have developed a mathematical model that is able to assess whether a person is fashionably dressed and to give advice on how to make the outfit more fashionable.

The creators are IRI researchers Edgar Simo-Serra and Francesc Moreno-Noguer and University of Toronto researchers Sanja Fidler and Raquel Urtasun. The algorithm was presented in the paper “Neuroaesthetics in Fashion: Modeling the Perception of Fashionability” at the 2015 Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), the world’s most important conference in this field, which was held in Boston (USA) in June.

The aim of the work is to build mathematical models that are able to understand the concept of fashion, that is, what makes a particular form of dress fashionable or unfashionable, and based on that, to make recommendations on how to dress.

To do this, the researchers created an Internet fashion dataset of over 144,000 user posts with images and associated information. The new algorithm was then able to predict how fashionable the clothes in the images were by using the “likes”

How did this Michael Kors bag spark a fashion phenomenon

Miranda Kerr clutches hers tightly, as do her fellow lingerie models Heidi Klum and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, while actresses Zoe Saldana, Amy Adams and Jessica Chastain have all been spotted with one hanging off their arm. And no, we’re not talking about an A-list boyfriend, but something us non-celebrities can obtain quite easily too: the handbag de nos jours by Michael Kors. Look around any office, restaurant or train carriage, and chances are you’ll spot several – the unobtrusively elegant shoulder bags and totes in navy or camel. The odd one will be burgundy red or fuchsia, but all will feature the shiny golden coin-shaped MK logo.

I wouldn’t want a woman to say, ‘I can’t go to the supermarket with this bag’

Kors, 55, has headed a fashion label for 34 years – the supermodel Iman opened his first catwalk show in 1984 – but in the past few years his brand has gone stratospheric, largely due to the success of his handbags which have sent company revenues sky high – up as much as 50 per cent year on year and reaching $3.3 billion (£2.2 billion) in 2014. The label is also the

A Lesson in Leather

So when Blue and I first went down to have more leather bags made, the old don of the family, Don David, told me to go down to the leather market and choose leather to make some more bags. I asked him what I should look for to make the best bags ever and he told me to ask for full grain chrome tanned leather (vegetable tanned leather is nice too, but we chose chrome). I just had to go pick the thickness and color.

I probably saw a couple hundred booths of pure love – vegetable, chrome and even brain tanned leather in every color and thickness you can imagine. Made my nose spin. Once I got to know the owners of the tannery there in Mexico, ranked 2nd best in all of North and South America in 2013, they started to give me the real education on what to look for and what to look out for with regards to leather.

Like my trendy leather bag It’s actually a repurposed Southwest Airlines seat

What do you do when you need to get rid of 80,000 airline seats that are weighing down your flying fleet?

Well, if you’re Southwest Airlines — the same commercial carrier that employs hilarious flight attendants who offer complimentary peanuts and pretzels — you do something ultra-unique, if mildly weird, like turning those seats into trendy handbags that have been conditioned by thousands of backsides.

Southwest partnered on the repurposing project with Looptworks, a Portland, Ore.-based company that turns “high-quality, unused material” into “limited edition, hand-numbered goods.”

Designers took more than 40 acres of leather — removed during a large-scale cabin redesign that introduced lighter materials into Southwest’s planes — and turned them into a line of bicolored bags known as Project Luvseat, according to Looptworks.

“Our designers took the original intent and form of the seats for inspiration and tried to figure out which kind of process was least wasteful,” Looptworks co-founder Scott Hamlin told Portland Monthly. “We didn’t want to undo what had already been done.”

The bags, which include a backpack, a tote and a duffel, are made in the United States and range from $150 to $225 depending on the model. Looptworks has also partnered with a Portland nonprofit to train adults with

The Best Leather Cleaning Methods

Top Tip

Don’t worry if your favourite leather item gets a stain! Cleaning leather can be easy when you know what cleaning products and methods to use. Remember to always test a small area of your leather item first to make sure the cleaning solution does not damage the material.

Fortunately, leather goods are quite durable and hardwearing, but sometimes they do need to be washed because of stains, grease, or just a build-up of general household germs. Because of the properties of leather, using the same cleaning methods as you do when washing clothes is going to result in damaged leather materials. Here are some quick and easy tips for leather care that will keep your leather goods looking like new.

How to Clean Leather Bags or Purses?

Leather bags and purses are very susceptible to stains and spots as they’re used outdoors frequently and often placed on the floor. Many people will simply use a regular soap or detergent to tackle the stains, but this is not a good idea – soap residue left on the leather can prevent the material from breathing, causing dry patches and cracking. Instead, follow these handy tips when you’re

These leather bags are made using leftover fruit and vegetables

Doesn’t sound too appetising, but hey, it’s vegan.

Fruitleather Rotterdam are a team of undergraduate design students who’ve come up with a new way to deal with leftover food: turning it into leather.

What started out as a university assignment has turned into a massive design project. Using leftover food from food markets, they’ve started creating ‘fruitleather’, a malleable, leather-like fabric from rotting fruits and vegetables, making a handy tote bag to show off the material’s potential uses to the public.

And no, before you ask, it doesn’t rot. We’ll explain:

The inspiration for the project came from seeing just how much food is wasted in their hometown. They told us:

‘From our workplace we had a great view of the Binnerotte Square in Rotterdam. At the end of the day the square would be completely littered with food waste which was often still edible.’

A close-up on that texture. (Picture: Facebook/Fruitleather Rotterdam)

‘Market vendors need to pay 12 cents per kilo to dispose of their waste which is the reason why it is often dumped illegally. It was an issue we wanted to solve with the thought: food is never waste. We decided to approach this problem from a designer’s point of view.’

Beef Lovers Not Alone as Fewer Cows Hit Leather Bag Fans

Beef lovers aren’t the only ones with sticker shock from the shrinking U.S. cattle herd. Fewer cows also mean tighter supply of hides used in luxury-car upholstery, handbags, shoes and Anita Dungey’s dog collars.

“The last couple of years have been horrendous,” said Dungey, the president of Auburn Leathercrafters, a collar and leash maker in Auburn, New York. Her leather costs rose 83 percent in two years to $8.25 a foot. “It’s been hard to keep up,” forcing Auburn to boost prices by as much as 10 percent, the most in at least three decades, she said.

While ranchers raise cattle mostly for meat, a single hide can produce enough leather for 11 cowboy boots, 20 footballs or one bucket seat. The herd began the year as the smallest since 1951, after record feed costs and drought over the past decade. Output is dropping just as Americans boost spending on leather goods and luggage to the most in at least 14 years.

The cost of U.S. beef has surged to a record this year, and leather isn’t far behind. Heavy native steer hides rose 17 percent in the 12 months through Nov. 8 to $122.30, the highest since the government began

You These Makeup Brushes in Your Cosmetics Bag

Anyone who has had their makeup done by a professional makeup artist knows that their tool kits can be pretty intimidating — they have more makeup brushes at their disposal than a Sephora stocks. I use Dermalogica products. My mornings consist of the Ultra Calming Cleanser, Daily Microfoliant, Antioxidant Hydramist and Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 Moisturiser. For the body I do like Dermalogica’s Protection Sport SPF50 which is also great on the kids.

There is never enough time for regular facials, but when I do get time I adore going to Bare Waxing in Auckland and getting a Dermalogica Customised Facial. The type I get can vary every time, from deep cleansing to hydrating, and I always add a back or scalp massage.

My secrets to good skin are lots of water, plenty of sleep, a great skincare regime and a decent sunscreen.

I started dancing from a young age so I was used to having makeup on. I became interested in it later, in high school. I don’t love having a face full of makeup though, which is why I spend my weekends without it.
